NCAA Basketball: Southern Miss vs. Marshall

The Southern Miss men’s basketball team didn’t have very long to celebrate its biggest win in four seasons, following last night’s upset of Middle Tennessee in the Conference USA Tournament. Next up was a semi-final match-up versus Marshall in the first game of the day.
Golden Eagles starting to believe they can under Doc Sadler with a spot in the title game up for grabs.
The Black and Gold left it all out on the court, but the dream run is over. The Thundering Herd takes down USM 85-75, advancing to the title game versus Western Kentucky.
Here’s Southern Miss Head Man Doc Sadler after coming up just two wins shy of the ultimate goal. “It would have been easy to duck your head, but if we were that type of team we wouldn’t have been playing today. So I’m very, very proud of my team, disappointed that we didn’t win, more for them. But I really believe that, with all my heart, that this has turned it around.”
USM’s overall record of 16-18 is a program best under Doc Sadler, a seven win improvement from last season.
Mississippi States loses to Tennessee in the SEC Tournament 62-59.
