NCAA Baseball: Oxford Regional Preview

Ole Miss is hosting its second straight regional behind yet another deep run through the SEC Tournament.

Joining the one-seed Rebels in Oxford are two-seed Illinois, three-seed Clemson, and four-seed Jacksonville State. Despite losing six out of its last seven regular season games, Ole Miss got hot at the right time, advancing all the way to championship Sunday for the second year in a row.

Just what the doctor ordered for the Rebels. Ole Miss Head Baseball Coach Mike Bianco said, “It’s about playing well. People can talk about all the matchups they want and how everything shakes out as far as the bids but at the end of the day it’s about playing well. And I know it sounds like coaches speak, but it’s really the truth. If you’re good enough, when you play well the rest will take care of business.”

Ole Miss Left fielder Thomas Dillard said, “Right. I think the SEC Tournament kind of puts things in the right line for us. We can beat anybody at any time. And we just have to be consistent and believe what Cooper and Coach B were saying yesterday and I think we have the talent to do that.”

Ole Miss will take on the Gamecocks at 7 p.m. Friday.
