National Love your Pets Day

Today is National Love your Pets Day. It’s estimated that nearly 80 million American households have at least one pet.
Each year on February 20th the whole day is set aside for pets and their owners. Whether you spend it pampering pups, coddling kittens, or setting your goldfish free in the ocean, there are a million reasons to make sure that you let your pet know that you love them at least once today.
Shannon Mendoza was spending time with her dog, Oreo. She said, “Because after a long day at work, or a long day at school or doing homework, he’s always there to cheer me up. He’s there at the door waiting for me. He watches me leave. He watches me arrive home. He sleeps right beside me. Even if you’re not like a people’s people, you can be a dog’s people.”
According to the Humane Society of the United States, over 63 percent of pet owners consider those pets to be members of the family.
