National Hurricane Preparedness Week kicks off

MEMA is urging all Mississippians to begin their preparations for the upcoming hurricane season.

May 3rd through May 9th is ‘National Hurricane Preparedness Week.’ The Atlantic hurricane season begins on June 1st and ends on November 30th.

This year, MEMA will provide the public with preparedness information all week on their website and social media pages including new information regarding storm preparedness in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Today’s theme is developing an evacuation plan.

Last year’s Atlantic hurricane season included 18 named storms with five of those forming in the Gulf of Mexico.
