Mystic Krewe of the Seahorse Parade
As the Coast’s only Lundi Gras parade, the annual Mystic Krewe of the Seahorse evening golf cart parade rolled tonight.
This year’s theme was ‘mutiny in the bay’ and that means pirates of all kinds took to the streets of Downtown Bay St. Louis
More than 95 colorfully decorated golf carts moved through Downtown Bay St. Louis. The parade is known for its unique throws including light-up seahorses and golf cart beads.
Those who participated in the longtime tradition say it is something they look forward to all year long. Captain Longbeard the First Albert Ghergich said, “We’ve participated in the parade for many years and it’s so very exciting just to see our city, see our visitors. We’ve met people who have flown in from California to be here today. It’s become a very large event and it’s just wonderful. It’s a wonderful event to participate in.”
The parade originated to use a little history and revelry to bring economic development to Bay St. Louis. Organizers say it is a great way to celebrate Mardi Gras with the community.
