Mystic Krewe of Pine Island to celebrate 30 years

The Mystic Krewe of Pine Island is set to mark their 30th year as a group this Mardi Gras season.

The krewe will host its ball this Saturday from 7 p.m. to midnight. The theme for this year’s ball is ‘30th Anniversary: Denim, Diamonds, and Pearls.”

The krewe’s parade will then roll on February 19th. The parade will start at the south end of John’s Bayou Road, travel around John’s Bayou Circle, and then end back at the south end.

The parade will feature floats, golf carts, side-by-sides, four-wheelers, and more.  Organizer Vicki Ladner said, “We didn’t get to do it last year. So, we’re ready to have a big throw down.”

Organizer Gene Rouse said, “We’re not just a Mardi Gras krewe. We are constant year-round. We participate in the river cleanups, preservation, things like that through our river system. So, this is payback for all the work that our members do throughout the year.”

To purchase tickets for the ball or to become a member of the krewe, contact the organizers through the Mystic Krewe of Pine Island on Facebook.
