Multiple crews respond to large house fire in Pass Christian
The Pass Christian Fire Department received a call this morning about a large house fire on Terrace Drive.
The call came in at 8:20 this morning and units dispatched. A man and his dog were inside the house at the time of the fire, but were able to escape by jumping out a window.
When dispatch arrived on the scene, they found the man in the backyard. The team then moved him away from the house and over the fence into the neighbor’s yard to safety. He was then sent to the hospital after sustaining minor injuries.
Firefighters were not able to enter the building due to the floor already being damaged by the fire and had to fight it from the outside. Pass Christian Fire Chief Dwight Gordon said, “You hate to see it happen, but they’re going to happen. That’s why the nature of our business is we’re on calls for this type of thing. I think we had a good work with all the people and all the neighboring departments that came out to help us.”
Fire department resources from Bay St. Louis and Harrison County as well as the CRTC were also on scene to assist.
