MSU pitcher/ East Central alum taken by Chicago in 3rd round

East Central alum Konnor Pilkington didn’t have to wait very long to hear his name called on day two of the draft as a third round pick of the Chicago White Sox.

The left-handed junior out of Mississippi State was the 81st overall pick following a solid 2018 season with the Super Regional bound Bulldogs.

The former Hornet actually regressed each season at MSU, but his strikeout rate has always been about one per inning.

As for Ole Miss, the Rebels have the most draft picks of any Magnolia state school, starting with Ryan Rolison’s first round selection last night. He’ll be heading to the Colorado Rockies while two of his teammates got picked up today.

Nick Fortes was a fourth round selection of the Miami Marlins and Brady Feigl, a fifth round pick, of the Oakland A’s.
