MSDH reports nearly 7,000 new cases of COVID-19 from August 6th through the 8th

Today, the Mississippi State Department of Health is reporting nearly 7,000 new cases of COVID-19 for August 6th through August 8th.

Along with the additional 6,912 cases of COVID-19 in Mississippi, MSDH is also reporting 28 deaths for the same three-day period.

Thirteen deaths occurred between July 29th and August 6th and an additional 15 deaths occurred between July 29th and August 2nd identified from death certificate reports.

Mississippi’s total of COVID-19 cases is now 365,061 and 7,649 deaths.

Among cases and deaths already reported, MSDH has identified 22 additional COVID-19 cases in residents of long-term care facilities and two additional deaths.

There are currently 153 ongoing outbreaks of COVID-19 in long-term care facilities.
