MSDH announces second dose COVID-19 vaccine appointments available

The Mississippi State Department of Health announced that you can now make a COVID-19 vaccine second dose appointment for sites throughout the state immediately after receiving your first dose.

No need to wait two weeks before scheduling. Residents can make a second dose appointment for one of the state’s drive-thru vaccination sites immediately after receiving the first dose.

Governor Tate Reeves said his goal is for the state to have the capacity to vaccinate 100,000 people per week in February, half first doses and half second doses. “We do expect a slight uptick in supply, starting next week of first doses. The last three weeks, we’ve gotten about 37,000 per week. We’re expecting to get closer to 43,000. In addition to that, we’ve been working with Dr. Dobbs and Dr. Byers and our long-term care facilities and partners to try to re-program some of the doses that were initially scheduled for our long-term care facilities, re-program them so we can put them in arms for the population at large.”
