MS Constables Association Convention
More than 100 constables from across the state are on the Coast this week for their annual Mississippi Constables Association Convention.
They started off their 43rd convention this morning at the Courtyard Marriot in Gulfport with introductions and an opening ceremony.
During the course of the convention they will go through multiple types of new training and re-certification. Constables are elected law enforcement officers, by a district, who are set up to help keep the peace within their county by assisting in executing the criminal law of our state.
Organizers of the convention say meeting every year to share ideas is an important part of their job. Warren County Constable Glenn McKay said, “This is very important for our job because we get our updates on training, on what happens throughout the year and we come here. Then we fellowship also for the week because a lot of these guys, we don’t get to see them across the state until we get down to the conference every year.”
Each day they will have a different training and Friday there will be a banquet to end the week.
