Moving salute to veterans on the way to Coast

A run to honor and help veterans is underway and headed straight towards South Mississippi.
The Old Glory Relay Run is a moving salute to all the great men and women who have served our country. The relay run kicked off in Seattle, Washington on September 11th and eventually ends in Tampa Bay, Florida on Veterans Day. With a flag in hand to lead the way, teams have run down the West Coast and now runners are conquering the South.
This Sunday, the New Orleans chapter will run from Slidell to Jones Park in Gulfport. Tori Moffitt with Team Red, White and Blue MS Gulf Coast said, “The Old Glory Relay is really just to show our veterans support. That they have the community support, that they have that connection still to the active duty military and that they’re not alone. That’s the most important thing is that the veterans are never alone and that they have a huge network of people supporting them.”
After retiring for the night, Old Glory runners will start the next part of the relay to Alabama in the morning after the national anthem. If you’d like to join in on the run, buy an Old Glory t-shirt or show your support, you can come out to Jones Park Monday at 6:30 a.m.
