Movie Filming at Winter Classics

Horses are starting to fill the Harrison County Fairgrounds as crews near kickoff for the 2016 Gulf Coast Winter Classic. While the horses and competitors will be the focal point for the next six weeks, tomorrow it is a movie crew that will be stealing the spotlight.
A crew will begin filming the movie “The Majestic” at the fairgrounds. The movie is about a family who finds a runaway Arabian horse. The family’s young daughter falls in love with the horse as two thieves try to steal it away. Scenes in the movie take place at a horse show which led to the movie’s producer giving Winter Classic officials a call. Gulf Coast Winter Classic Events Coordinator Janet McCarroll said, “They just gave me a call one day. I guess the man, Mark Headley, who is doing this also did another movie here and he was told, I guess he told someone about his movie, he was told we have this horse show here because he didn’t even know. He called me and we were like ‘sure, we’d love to help.’ We’ve had some other movies shoot and at other horse shows around the Southeast and we’ve had other movies at our horse shows and we love to help.”
The filming will take place from 11 until 4 tomorrow at the fairgrounds.
