Moss Point’s Devin Booker Selected in the NBA Draft Last Night

Last year, Devin Booker graduated from Moss Point High School. After one season playing for the University of Kentucky, he’s now on to the NBA.
Last night, the Phoenix Suns selected Booker with the 13th pick in the first round of the NBA Draft. Booker averaged 10 points and 2 rebounds a game for Kentucky.
Although his career will now take him all the way to Arizona, he left his mark here in South Mississippi.
Jeff Mumford, the principal at Moss Point High School, said, “Just pure excitement for him and his family. Not only that, to have a student that you actually had at your high school. It’s just an outstanding accomplishment for him. So congratulations to him, his family, his immediate family as well as his family that’s here in Moss Point as well as in Michigan.”
The Phoenix Suns are in the same conference as the Pelicans, which means Booker should make at least a few trips to New Orleans next season.
