Moss Point School District supports Mayor King’s curfew for minors

The Moss Point School District supports Mayor Mario King and the curfew affecting minors in the city.

The city-wide ordinance went into effect yesterday, placing a curfew on minors under the age of 18. If seen without an adult between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m., all minors will be picked up by local police and held until a parent or guardian can pick them up.

The Moss Point School District released a statement saying: “We support the curfew that the mayor has enacted for the next five days and have incorporated the language about the curfew in our afternoon announcements to our students so that they are aware and reminded.”

The school district has also made it clear to parents that students must be picked up from school events that end after curfew. MSPD will not allow students to walk home from school events.
