Moss Point School District names interim superintendent

MOSS POINT, Miss. (WXXV)- There’s a change in leadership in the Moss Point School District.

District leaders released a statement Thursday night announcing the appointment of Moss Point High Principal Otis Gaines II as interim superintendent at the June 9 school board meeting.

Dr. Christopher Williams had served as the district’s superintendent since mid-2025. It’s not yet clear why Williams is no longer in the superintendent’s role.

School Board President Antoinette Morris released a statement announcing the move, saying in part that the board understands the public has questions, while also saying board members will follow the district’s statement of ethics regarding this matter.
