Moss Point Police investigating two shootings from Monday night

Moss Point Police are investigating two separate shootings that happened within an hour of each other Monday night.

Police Chief Brandon Ashley said in a press release that officers were called to investigate a report of gunshots in the area of Sherlawn Drive and Little Richard Street just after 10:30 p.m.

On scene, officers found Yourkedez Washington, 22, of Pascagoula, suffering from multiple gunshots. He was taken to Singing River Hospital and underwent surgery.

Shortly after Washington was taken to the hospital, officers were told of a second victim who arrived at Singing River by private vehicle. Martin Harris, 28, of Meridian was treated and released.

Investigators are trying to determine a motive.

About an hour later, officers were sent to the 3600 block of Machpelah Road about a shooting.

They found Armodd Lett, 29, of Moss Point, suffering from multiple gunshots. He was taken to Singing River and then transferred to USA Hospital in Mobile, where he had surgery.

Lett was in his car in the driveway of a house where it appears he was ambushed by at least two shooters who fired multiple rounds into the vehicle, Ashley said.

Lett was able to make his way into the house, where he collapsed.

Investigators are trying to determine the motive of the second shooting as well.

If anyone has information about these cases, they are asked to contact Det. Vince Nye at 228-475-1711 or call Crime Stoppers at 800-787-5898 or go online at mscoastcrimestoppers.com.
