Moss Point native receives key to the city

One of Moss Point’s distinguished natives was recognized by the city in a big way this weekend.

Dr. Eddie Glaude was born and raised in Moss Point and is currently the James S. McDonnell Distinguished University Professor and Chair of African American Studies at Princeton University, along with being an author of several books and a contributor to MSNBC and Time Magazine.

In front of family, friends, and community leaders, Glaude received a key to the city from Mayor Mario King in recognition of his achievements in academia and as a community leader. “It’s always an honor to be on MSNBC, to be able to have an impact on the national conversation, but to be recognized by one’s hometown, to allow my mom the opportunity to see the town celebrate me, it’s just wonderful. It’s just wonderful.”

Glaude is the second recipient of Mayor King’s Key to the City program.
