Moss Point mayor addresses lawsuit against the city

Back in January, we brought you a story in which a Moss Point alderman filed a tort claim against Mayor Mario King following an alleged altercation during an alderman meeting.

After not responding to the tort claim that was filed, Alderman Ennit Morris moved ahead with a lawsuit against Mario King and the City of Moss Point.

Alderman Morris’ lawsuit is seeking one million dollars in damages from the city.

Mayor King spoke with News 25 today, explaining how this lawsuit affects the city and its residents. “Overall our citizens will directly be impacted by this lawsuit. When it comes down to legal feels, our insurance rating, it will all be passed on to the taxpayer. I think it’s really appalling that an individual that was elected to serve and promote the well-being of our city would sue the city for a million dollars.”

Mayor King tells News 25 that he’s not worried about the lawsuit and that he has courtroom audio telling an entirely different story.
