Moss Point Lady Tigers to face Ripley in Final Four

Tonight, Moss Point Head Girls Basketball Coach Ethan Porter did a little scouting up north in preparation for his team’s run at a gold ball. Now, the semi-final stage is set.

The Lady Tigers have a date at the Big House with Ripley who took down New Albany 58-40 on Thursday night.

As a first year head coach, Porter is more focused on his squad leading up to Monday’s Final Four matchup. And understandably so with the Lady Tigers overcoming an 0-5 start to the season before ripping off a stretch of 23-2 including the program’s first district tournament title in ten years.

Talk about something special in Moss Point. “The 0-5 start, this is obviously my first varsity basketball team that I’m the head coach of but after that 0-5 start, even in the middle of the season we had some internal issues a little bit and it was to the point where I thought we were going to have to make some big changes to this team. And they finally came together probably in mid-January and that’s just special. This will be a team I’ll never forget, they’re my first team.”

The Lady Tigers will tip off their semi-final matchup at 4 p.m. Monday from the Big House in Jackson.
