Moss Point group strives to stop the violence
As Moss Point fights against recent violence, a local Moss Point group hopes to be at the forefront of the battle.
Moss Point’s 100 Men, a group started by Derrick Taite, is working towards becoming stronger in the midst of all the recent violence. The group’s mission is to get the community together and serve as mentors for the youth by providing them with activities and programs that will help keep them off the streets.
Taite says there is power in unity and the larger the group grows, the more power they will have to stop violent situations. “I actually started this four years ago and I’ve just been doing it small, trying to do it by myself. Now, I need more eyes and more people to help me serve the cause because it’s bigger than just me, I wanna say we, not me. We have to get involved as a whole and make things happen in the community because our law enforcement needs help and we are here to help.”
If you would like to get involved with Moss Point’s 100 Men, they will be holding their next meeting this Thursday at 7 p.m. at the Moss Point Recreation Center.
