Moss Point football’s Larry Simmons signs with Ole Miss
Over the last three years, three Ole Miss wide receivers have been selected in the second round of the NFL Draft and maybe one day Moss Point’s Larry Simmons will have created a similar future for himself.
Plenty of red in the Moss Point gym this morning as Simmons signed his National Letter of Intent with Ole Miss, honoring his longstanding commitment with the Rebels, dating all the way back to January.
A three-star recruit, Simmons has been a varsity contributer for the Tigers since his freshmen year, racking up 45 total touchdowns, four passing, 13 rushing, and 28 receiving, all while helping Moss Point win back-to-back-to-back region 8 class 4A titles.
Now looking ahead to his future in Oxford, Simmons says loyalty had a lot to do with picking Ole Miss and the Nasty Wide Outs. “From the first point that Coach Nix reached out to me and gave me the offer, we built a relationship. We got to know each other, and it kind of just stuck like that. Kept going, kept building a bond. It felt good to really do that, to be put into this position to do it for my family. It was great really. I learned that am – you feel me – like, that person.”
Simmons was a part of Saturday’s Mississippi-Alabama All-Star Game and says he had about 15 division I offers to pick from.
