Moss Point Committee Meeting

Ten Moss Point residents and business owners hold in their hands 98 thousand dollars to help improve their city. The ten make up the Moss Point Community Development Advisory Committee, chosen to represent the voices in their community.
“I think it is very important for us to make sure that in those communities where we’re spending our block grant funds that we give our citizens who live in those communities an opportunity to share with us what they’d like to see or what their needs are”, said Cathenual Keeton, Director of Moss Point Community Development.
Each member accepted their seat on a voluntary basis because they each want to see the city grow.
“I know that Moss Point has often been called a diamond in the rough. So we’re here to make sure we can partner with the city administration to develop things that our community can be proud of”, said Chairman Jeremy Boulware.
“I ride a lot, I travel a lot, I walk a lot in Moss Point”, said Committee Member Florestine McGehee. “My thing is looking at property. Seeing how things look. How it should look and how it should not look.”
The committee will have to come up with strategies for projects in low income areas.
Chairman Boulware said, “My focus is on the east Moss Point area and the interstate. The I-10 corridor I think is a vital part of our community. With having two exits off the interstate I think is something we can position and hopefully attract more businesses”.
