Moss Point Celebration
Moss Point’s week long celebration of its 115th anniversary will wrap tomorrow after a day full of fun activities.
Fun by the River will be a full day event. The day will kick off with a 5K at 8:30 a.m. at the Pelican Landing Conference Center where runners will take off across the bridge. There will also be exhibits along the river all day showcasing soapbox derby cars, antique cars and heritage education. The day’s biggest event comes when a few high-powered boats hit the river. Superintendent of Parks and Recreation Chadwick Smith said, “AOF, the American Outdoor Federation, they’re going to be hosting this. Basically, they do three laps and they determine winners on an elimination tourney style. It’s going to be awesome. They’re smaller boats, they basically float on air. So, it’s going to be pretty cool.”
The boat races are scheduled to start at 10 a.m. and will wrap up around 5.
