Moss Point Board of Aldermen requests Mayor King’s resignation once he enters guilty plea
Less than a day after news broke of Moss Point Mayor Mario King’s intent to plead guilty to federal fraud charges, the Moss Point Board of Aldermen has requested the mayor’s resignation after he officially enters a plea.
Ward 4 Alderman Ennit Morris and Ward 1 Alderman Sherwood Bradford called for a special meeting with the board and mayor to discuss Mayor King’s intent to enter a guilty plea in federal court.
During the meeting, the board asked the mayor about his intentions in finalizing his plea agreement and received guidance on state and federal statutes regarding removal from office scenarios.
However, Mayor King announced during the meeting that he does intend to resign, but has not made it official yet.
