Morning Star Baptist Church hosted a drive-thru food drop
Morning Star Baptist Church in Gulfport held a drive-thru food drop today.
Morning Star received 17,000 pounds of food that helped feed nearly 500 families. The church partnered with Goodwill, Feeding the Gulf Coast, Extend a Hand Help a Friend, and other organizations in the community to organize the drop.
Pastor John Whitfield tells News 25 it is important to lend a helping hand. “We try to spread the wealth. We try to touch other communities, but we understand that it is important to take care of home. So, we do what we can to spread the wealth and do what we can to take care of our own communities here in the City of Gulfport.”
Hand sanitizer, masks, and small Bibles were also handed out.
