More Development to Come to Harrison County Fairgrounds

The Harrison County Fairgrounds off County Farm Road sit on over 630 acres of land. But are they being used to their full potential?
The biggest event on the fairgrounds every year is the Winter Classic Horse Show. Supervisors want to see the entire property, which includes soccer fields and empty land used for more. This morning, they hired South Mississippi Development District to come up a with master development plan on how the county can best use all of the acreage and encourage more events and people to come there.
Harrison County District 2 Supervisor Joe Meadows said, “We’re gonna get a comprehensive plant that will show a path to the future development of it. So, I’m just very excited about it and its diamond in the rough and it’s going to be a great asset to this county when fully developed.”
One idea includes building an enclosed arena for horse jumping shows.
A complete master plan should be completed by March 2016.
