More Charges in Clarksdale Officer Shooting

Clarksdale police have filed new charges against the two men suspected of shooting a Clarksdale police officer and robbing a grocery store.
Police arrested 19-year-old Johnny Robinson Jr. on charges of attempted murder and two new counts of armed robbery. He’s being held on $700,000 bond.
A second suspect in the robbery, 20-year-old Leandrew Booker, was arrested Tuesday on an unrelated outstanding warrant from the State Correction Department. He faces additional charges of conspiracy to commit armed robbery and armed robbery.
Assistant Police Chief Robbie Linley said today that Corporal Derrick Couch, who remains in critical condition, was a bit more responsive Tuesday but still has a long road ahead of him. He was shot in the left eye Saturday while investigating a convenience store robbery.
