MLB’s Lawton Brothers Speak at Ohr-O’Keefe Museum

Stay humble, work hard and be determined: that’s advice from two former Major League Baseball stars native to the Coast.
It was two speakers for the price of one during the “Our Love Affair with Baseball” luncheon exhibition series at the Ohr-O’Keefe Museum of Art in Biloxi.
Originally from Gulfport, Matt and Marcus Lawton spoke to the crowd about their journey to the Major League.
Marcus Lawton tells News 25 he learned a lot in his 12 seasons with the MLB, especially when he was drafted by the New York Mets. “Coming from a small town and going to a big city was a huge difference. I can tell you as I spoke earlier, when I said when you leave here you may feel like you’re a superstar, but when you get there everyone is a superstar. So you join the ranks of a lot of good ball players so you have to either learn to be humble or be dedicated to be good.”
WXXV is a proud sponsor of the baseball luncheon.
Next week, you can hear from former Coast native and Baylor University Head Coach Steve Smith.
