Mississippi Republican Candidates for Governor Prepare for Televised Debate
Who will be the state’s next governor? We voters will soon be casting our ballots to determine who will take over Mississippi’s top political positions in the upcoming primaries – just over a week away, on Tuesday, August 6th.
For the most part, the two candidates with the most money in the race for governor – Republican Tate Reeves and Democrat Jim Hood – have largely ignored their primary opponents – concentrating instead on the general election on Tuesday, November 5th. But come Tuesday evening, Tate Reeves is scheduled to participate in a televised debate among the three Republican candidates for governor, squaring off with two opposing primary Republican candidates – former Mississippi Supreme Court Justice Bill Waller Jr. and State Representative Robert Foster.
The televised debate is set for 7 pm Tuesday night, July 23rd. WJTV news channel 12 in Jackson, Ms. is hosting the debate. WXXV News 25 will provide coverage of this event, and we have submitted questions for the debate concerning issues important to us here in South Mississippi. Stay tuned as we continue to keep you updated with the latest election news.
