Mississippi Supreme Court Rules on New Biloxi Hospital
Today the Mississippi Supreme Court upheld the state’s approval of a plan by Harrison HMA and the owners of Gulf Coast Medical Center to build a hospital in Biloxi.
The Mississippi Department of Health issued a certificate of need for the project back in 2012. That certificate of need was challenged by three hospitals in 2013, arguing Harrison County HMA was building a new hospital, not replacing or relocating an existing one.
After a series of appeals, the Supreme Court upheld the ultimate decision, allowing the new hospital to be built off Cedar Lake Road near Interstate 10.
