Mississippi State’s road to the Final Four
On the eve of its fourth straight dance in the NCAA Tournament, this year is different for the Mississippi State women’s basketball team, having improved on each year’s previous appearance.
But to do that again, the Bulldogs will have to win the whole thing, having gone from second round to Sweet 16 to national runners up. They won’t be sneaking up on anyone anymore, but they also don’t seem to be intimidated by the moment.
One seed MSU will gets its run going with a home matchup versus 16 seed Nicholls State, ending a 13 day layoff dating back to the SEC Tournament championship game loss to South Carolina. Mississippi State Head Women’s Basketball Coach Vic Schaefer said, “We’re excited to get back to playing, obviously. We’re coming off of stubbing our toe a little bit, will have been 13 days since we’ve played and that’s really concerning I can tell you. While we took a little time at the beginning of this two-week break, we’ve got a lot of rust. And as I told them this morning in film, we’ve got one day to knock the rust off.”
Mississippi State and Nicholls will tips things off tomorrow at 4:30 in Starkville.
