Mississippi State Women’s Basketball claims no. 1 seed in NCAA Tournament

The Mississippi State Women’s Basketball team came into Selection Monday with no doubt about where it stood amongst the best of the best, claiming a number 1 seed in the field of 64.
Albeit, the national runner-ups were the last number 1 seed revealed at today’s watch party in Starkville where hundreds gathered to see how things would line up for the Bulldogs. They draw a first round match-up versus Nicholls State where they look to bounce back from a conference tournament title game loss to South Carolina.
Otherwise, it’s just business as usual for MSU, coming off its best regular season in program history. Mississippi State Guard Victoria Vivians said, “We start down barely making it into the NCAA Tournament, and now we’re the No. 1 seed so it shows how we’ve grown as a team.”
Head Coach Vic Schaefer said, “To be able to take everybody’s best punch every night, you’ve just got to take your hats off to them.”
MSU will tips things off with Nicholls in the first round at 5 p.m. on Saturday at ESPN2.
