Mississippi State vs. Charleston Southern preview
Despite being picked to finish second to last in the SEC West this season, Mississippi State is one of the few teams around college football with a quarterback that can take the Bulldogs as far as they want to go.
Not many programs can say the same, especially with a junior under center, but Nick Fitzgerald already has the reps from last year to become a truly special talent. As a sophomore he led the Southeastern Conference in total offense despite ranking 15th in completion percentage amongst all qualified players.
MSU Head Coach Dan Mullen says he expects to see a more prepared rising star in 2017. “One, I mean he’s expecting going in, I think he knows what to expect, how to prepare for game week and just what it’s going to entail. Getting in, getting ready for the game, a routine, a preparation for the game, all of those different things. I think that’s a big advantage he’d have over last year being a first-time guy getting ready to go of adjusting to what game planning is like, what to really study and prepare for the game and get yourself out there on the field ready to go play at a high level.”
Mississippi State will play host to Charleston Southern at 3 p.m. Saturday. The game will be carried by the SEC Network.
