Mississippi State quarterback named to Manning Award watch list

After beating Ole Miss in the Egg Bowl last season, Mississippi State Head Coach Dan Mullen was asked who he had to beat out in recruitment for then sophomore quarterback Nick Fitzgerald. He humorously responded UT Chattanooga.
There’s probably a lot of programs that want a do-over on the former three star prospect as he continues to reel in the preseason accolades as a junior. Today, Fitzgerald was one of 30 players named to the Manning Award Watch List which goes to the best quarterback in the nation.
In 2016, Fitzgerald led the SEC in total offense and he’s already fifth all time at MSU with 43 total touchdowns.
