Mississippi State Head Women’s Basketball Coach up for Naismith Award

By the time the Mississippi State women’s basketball team opens up its NCAA tournament run on Saturday, 13 days will have passed since the last time the Bulldogs took the court. In the meantime, they’ve been busy racking up more post-season recognition.
The most recent nod going to head coach Vic Schaefer, who was tabbed as a finalist for Naismith Coach of the Year earlier today.
The SEC coach of the year is one of four still in the running for the top honor and he’s got a strong resume to support his case. This year, MSU completed the first perfect regular season in the SEC in 20 years.
The national runners-up from a year ago also captured their first ever SEC regular season championship behind the play of first-team All-American and Gillom Trophy Winner Victoria Vivians.
