Mississippi State draws Tallahassee bid
Mississippi State opted for a private viewing session this morning even though its regional fate wasn’t really in jeopardy.
MSU draws the two seed in the Tallahassee Regional where Florida State will also play host to three seed Oklahoma and four seed Samford.
But a couple months ago, the Bulldogs couldn’t have said the same about their NCAA Tournament chances after getting swept at Southern Miss to start the season and losing seven out of their first nine games in league play.
A far cry from closing out the regular season with a three game sweep over the number one overall seed Florida Gators. MSU Interim head baseball Coach Gary Henderson said, “We’re excited, as you can imagine. From where we were in the middle of February to where we are right now, we’re pretty pumped up. We’re fired up, we’re excited.”
MSU Pitcher Konnor Pilkington said, “Going down to Tallahassee is going to be really fun. I know two guys off of Oklahoma and a guy off of Florida State, but it’s going to be really, really fun and we’re really excited.”
MSU Center fielder Jake Mangum said, “Just like Coach Henderson said, we’ve come a long way this year. From where we were February 21st as a team to now, we’ve made huge strides and we’re excited. We’re ready for the challenge.”
MSU will lead things off with Oklahoma on Friday with a 12 p.m. start time on ESPNU.
