Mississippi State Department of Health begins weekly reporting of people that have recovered from COVID-19

On Wednesday, the Mississippi State Department of Health began reporting an estimate of how many people have recovered from COVID-19.

To calculate the number of recoveries, the department includes people who tested positive more than 14 days ago and were not hospitalized in addition to the people who tested positive more than 21 days ago and were hospitalized, or it’s unclear if they were hospitalized.

Case still under investigation are not included in the total.

According to the MSDH website, an estimated 3,413 people statewide have recovered from COVID-19 as of April 28.

The number of active coronavirus cases and the number of COVID-19 related deaths will be updated on their website each day at 11 a.m.

The total number of people recovered will be updated weekly.
