Mississippi Power sends crews to Texas and Oklahoma

Mississippi is taking the lead on relief and prevention in states that may be slammed with freezing winter storms this week.

Mississippi Power is sending about 80 linemen, engineers, and support personnel to help areas expecting to be affected by winter storm Landon.

The team assisted power services Tuesday in Paris, Texas and is heading to Tulsa, Oklahoma today ahead of the storm.

Most of Oklahoma roads will be covered in snow and ice by the end of the night. Mississippi Power Spokesperson Kaila Moran Griffith said, “Any time our customers are not in the line of inclement weather, we’re very grateful for that, of course we want to make sure our customers are taken care of — but when we’re not in the line of a hurricane or winter storm, we’re absolutely going to be able to help our neighbors. We’ve done this before — we’ll continue to do that as needed.”

The storm system is not expected to have a major impact on Mississippi.
