Mississippi Power relief efforts
Mississippi Power crew members geared up to leave for Florida to help with relief efforts during Hurricane Michael.
The company will send a hundred crew members to Pensacola. Members from Gulfport, Biloxi, Bay St. Louis, and Pascagoula will team up together to help.
Depending on the severity of the hurricane, the crew members could be responsible for a number of efforts. They could be doing anything from closing fuses, picking up wire, or changing out poles.
The members plan to stay for as long as they are needed to help down in Pensacola. Mississippi Power Wiggins crew lead lineman Brian Erkhart said, “Here on the Coast we know what it is like. We know what it is like to need help. So, to be able to return that favor and go help someone else in need, we enjoy it.”
Biloxi Fire Chief Joe Boney tells News 25 the Biloxi Fire Department also plans to send first responders to help with Hurricane Michael.
