Mississippi Power gearing up for Nate
Power crews across South Mississippi are gearing up as Nate gets ready to hit the Gulf Coast.
Mississippi Power tells News 25 they have been monitoring Nate over the week. They have called in about 800 additional personnel that include lineman, tree crews, and damage assessment teams.
Mississippi Power officials say storm crews will be ready to respond to any outages caused by Nate whether inside or outside the service territory. Jeff Shepard with Mississippi Power Public Affairs, “We have a plan that we’re always working on, tweaking, and when we go off system, just last month, we sent about 100 folks over to Georgia to go help with Hurricane Irma and you go and you learn and you see how other utilities are doing things and you apply the best practices to your plan so we feel confident that we’re ready to respond to our customers’ needs as soon as it’s safe to get back in those trucks and start getting the lights back on.”
