Mississippi North/South All-Star Game Rosters Selected

The Mississippi Gulf Coast is known for its long standing prowess in the high school basketball ranks. That goes for both players and coaches.
Last night, the Mississippi Association of Coaches selected the rosters of two All-Star games in the Magnolia state. Those being the Mississippi-Alabama All-Star Classic and the Mississippi North-South All-Star Game.
Leading the boys in the latter is St. Martin head boys basketball Coach Charlie Pavlus, who’s got a trio of local juniors under his watch. Repping the South are Gulfport swingman DQ McCord, Bay High forward Galen Smith III, and Harrison Central point guard Dajon Whitworth.
No hidden agenda for Coach Pavlus, just a roster stacked enough to take down the north. “I don’t even get this opportunity without the players, obviously. I mean the guys that have been here for me, one year at Long Beach, and this being my ninth year here. They score all the points, they get all the rebounds, they get all the assists and make me look good at times. And you’re not going in there with your own agenda, we didn’t have a player. We didn’t have a player represent St. Martin and we didn’t have a player to represent Wayne County in the junior game. So, it makes it a little easier on us cause we’re not politically in there trying to get our own agendas. We’re just trying to find the 12 best players,” said Coach Pavlus.
Co-head coach of the south is Kendrick Davis of Wayne County. That game will be played on March 24th at Mississippi College in Clinton.
