Mississippi national lawmakers weigh in on Mueller Report

The American public can now read most of the special counsel’s findings into Russia’s role in the 2016 presidential election.

The more than 400 page report from Robert Mueller contains some redactions. Attorney General William Barr said every page of the report had classified material that needed to be protected. Each category of protected information that was redacted from the report has been color-coded to identify the reason for each cut.

News 25 caught up with Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith and Congressman Steven Palazzo today.

Neither lawmaker says they have read the full report at the time, but both said they were not surprised with the initial findings of “no collusion and no obstruction.”

Congressman Palazzo said, “Some people are saying there is obstruction of justice charges in there, I think Pelosi and Schumer are already trying to beat that drum, so I say well that is interesting, so why don’t we go back and look at candidate Clinton’s obstruction of justice when she had her email server and her email scam where she destroyed all of the evidence to.”

Senator Hyde-Smith said, “There is no evidence of collusion. That was the purpose of the entire investigation and the president has been so confident in that from the very beginning and we had no reason not to believe him or to think there would be anything else there. I fully expected the report to come out no collusion.”
