Mississippi Municipal League Conference in Biloxi

The 92nd Mississippi Municipal League annual conference is taking place at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum Convention Center.

Representatives from almost every city in the state have converged on the Coast for work sessions this week. It’s an annual event to exchange information and recognize progress on existing programs.

Today, they had their opening general session with special guest speaker Philip Gunn.

During the meeting, he gave a brief update from the legislature and discussed infrastructure updates, ARPA funding, and excess revenue.

The conference is a networking opportunity for local leaders discussing valuable information. Gulfport Mayor Billy Hewes said, “The issues that are facing cities great and small are very common. So, there’s a lot of opportunity for continuing education, sharing the solution that we do have. So, there’s a lot of conservation of the ARPA money and how we apply that to our infrastructure.”

In addition, several other groups have their summer meetings alongside the MML, including the Mississippi Black Caucus of Local Elected Officials, the Mississippi Municipal Attorneys, and the Municipal Court Clerks Association.
