Democratic Candidate Jeffrey Hulum III reacts to Fourth Congressional District Race

The votes are in and Mississippi’s Fourth Congressional District has decided who will represent South Mississippi in Washington for the next term.

WXXV News 25’s Asia Ellis has the election night results and reaction from the Democratic Challenger Jeffrey Hulum III.

After months of campaigning and a long day at the polls, the results are now setting the course for who will represent Mississippi’s Fourth Congressional District in Washington.

Republican Mike Ezell has secured another term in Congress, defeating Democratic challenger Jeffrey Hulum IIII.

Hulum watched the results come in alongside supporters at Ms. Audrey’s Southern Kitchen in Gulfport, where he addressed the outcome of the race. “We had a lot of people realizing they have been purged, they were inactive due to the Secretary of State Office purging over 230,000 people in the state of Mississippi. All the irregularities that happened at some of the voting precincts like Jackson County not being prepared to start at 7 o’clock with internet connectivity issues, running out of ballots, or bailiffs individually going out to curbside vote. There were so many irregularities in this election, but we are not crying. We said oh it is what it is, the people spoke and voted. We will continue to work and do the work of the people.”

Following the results, Hulum thanked his supporters for their encouragement and commitment throughout his campaign.
