Mississippi Maritime Museum annual meeting

Once a year, a general membership meeting takes place at the Maritime Activities Center in Pascagoula to discuss the Mississippi Maritime Museum.

According to Museum President Perry Thompson, things seem to be moving in the right direction. The status report entails replacing the roof for the museum, meaning the campaign for funds will continue.

Thompson tells News 25 the Mississippi Maritime Museum is key to educating the Gulf Coast on 300 years of history. “Especially our children in the school system, a lot of them aren’t aware of our history. So, we want to be that repository of all the history of maritime for Mississippi.”

If the museum can get the rest of the funding by the end of the year, Thompson projected the museum could be up and running by 2021.
