Mississippi Free Fishing Weekend 2026: No license required June 6-7, regulations still apply

The Mississippi Department of Marine Resources is reminding anglers they can fish without a recreational fishing license during Free Fishing Weekend.

That is coming up this weekend: June 6 and June 7.

The annual event allows anyone to fish in Mississippi’s public waters without a license. The state is also offering another free fishing day on July 4.

Officials say while a license won’t be required, all fishing regulations still apply, including size limits, possession limits, and catch reporting requirements.
