Mississippi Deep Sea Rodeo Hits Gulf Waters

Early this morning, dozens of Gulf Coast fishermen hit the waters looking to reel in the top catch.
The 69th annual Mississippi Deep Sea Fishing Rodeo kicked off this morning in Gulfport. Anglers from Louisiana, Alabama and Florida compete in two different divisions: fresh water and salt water. They will be vying for over $40,000 in cash and prizes. One of the top prizes is a $20,000 check going to whoever catches a certified state record tiger shark.
The tournament runs through the Fourth of July.
While the fishermen are out on the Gulf, there will still be something for the whole family to do at Jones Park. MS Deep Sea Fishing Rodeo Organizer Richard Valdez said, “Just come on out. We sell a $5 armband to get you in or you can buy a $10 armband to get you in for all four days to come and go as you please. We’ll have a trolley to bring you across the street from the parking garage and it’s going to be a great time. A lot of live entertainment, but we run from 12 to 12 everyday.”
For $25, you can also purchase an armband for unlimited carnival rides.
