Mississippi Bureau of Investigation investigating officer-involved shooting in Biloxi

The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation released new information on the officer-involved shooting that happened Friday, January 15th at the Harrison County Courthouse.

A deputy with the Harrison County Sheriff’s Department responded to a disturbance outside the Harrison County Courthouse on Lameuse Street. The deputy made contact with 48-year-old Reginald Johnson who displayed a knife and began to advance on the deputy.

The deputy discharged his service weapon, striking Johnson who was pronounced dead on the scene.

The deputy sustained injuries and was transported to a local hospital where he was treated and released.

MBI special agents are gathering evidence as part of this ongoing investigation and will share their findings with the local district attorney’s office.
