Mississippi Attorney General to Hold Press Conference on Bonnet Carre Spillway Issues

Mississippi’s top lawyer is preparing to present a critical case on behalf of South Mississippi, is on the coast to state his intentions. Attorney General Jim Hood will be holding a press conference at 1:15 p.m. Thursday afternoon at Mary Mahoney’s in Biloxi. The focus: talking about the impacts of the openings of the Bonnet Carre spillway following the months-long flooding in the Mississippi Delta. Hood also plans to discuss his upcoming meeting with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. As we’ve reported in the past, Hood was one of the state’s first officials to address the spillway openings’ effects on our coast and marine environment here in South Mississippi and beyond.Several weeks ago, Hood issued a letter to Louisiana officials and the Corps of Engineers, outlining these concerns and requesting a meeting with Mississippi and Louisiana officials to discuss the matter.
